Agricultural Sector Modeling - PhD

Position Overview
The successful candidate will engage in innovative research to develop an economic model for the international food sector, building upon established agricultural sector models. This project focuses on investigating sustainable and climate-efficient production methods. Major responsibilities include model development, research activities, and script-based data preparation for model parameters. The impacts of climate change, demand developments, political frameworks, and the transfer of sustainable production technologies on the supply-demand balance, regional competitiveness, and environmental sustainability will be explored through scenario analyses. Findings will be disseminated through impactful presentations and scholarly publications.
Your Profile
- Strong interest in applied research related to sustainability and adaptation of global food systems.
- A master's degree in natural sciences or economics (e.g., agricultural or resource economics, geography, environmental sciences, or a related field).
- Specialized knowledge or professional experience in modeling.
- Proficiency in programming (e.g., GAMS, MATLAB, Python, R).
- Experience in managing and analyzing large datasets.
- Strong analytical skills with an ability for logical reasoning and mathematical thinking.
- Team player with a willingness to collaborate across disciplines.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Good knowledge of German is an advantage.

This research role will be carried out in close collaboration with project partners. The candidate is seeking a cumulative doctorate in connection with this position.
