My research aims at the interdisciplinary interface of natural sciences (hydrology and climate science), applied environmental sciences & engineering (geography, civil engineering, urban planning & adaptation, risk & resilience), and applied statistics (data science, extreme value statistics, multivariate statistics, spatial statistics). It is motivated by the guiding question: How can we meaningfully use hydrological and climatological understanding, models, and data to generate impact-relevant information? To answer this question on different scales, I aim to create innovative synergies between physically-based numerical process modelling, advanced statistical approaches and the impact-relevant scale.
