Nicole Acosta studied biology at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador and Juniata College, USA. She graduated as M.Sc. in Tropical Forestry at the Technische Universität Dresden in 2020 with the master thesis title "Participatory scenarios for sustainable livelihoods of farmers in the parish of La Libertad, Ecuador". She currently works on her PhD project "Joint preservation of ecological systems and farm livelihoods in the Galapagos Islands through improved food system resilience". This research will contribute to the CLICCS-C2 project Sustainable Land-Use Scenarios: Soil, Biodiversity, Water, Food and Energy Security.
