Which societal inequalities are resulting from the climate crisis? What should be the goal of eco-social transformation? In what way do climate impacts and policy responses affect social groups? These were some of the exciting issues addressed at a panel discussion about who bears the cost of the climate crisis and the politics of eco-social policy-making on December 3rd, 2025 at the University of Hamburg that Dr. Leonard Borchert from the Climate Extremes Group joined.

The event was organized by the research project WELRISCC (Welfare State Responses to Social Risks in Times of Climate Change) based at the Department of Socioeconomics at the University of Hamburg and brought in new perspectives by the researchers and civil society actors who participated in the discussion that will be incorporated into the project work.
