FAIR2Adapt
FAIR to Adapt to Climate Change (FAIR2Adapt)
Project description
Fragmented data and limited exchange across European regions often hinder coordinated action in developing solid adaptation strategies to climate change. The EU-funded FAIR2Adapt project addresses this data-sharing challenge and advances climate resilience by transforming data into actionable knowledge to improve climate adaptation. FAIR2Adapt builds a user-friendly, fully compatible data-sharing platform, conducts case studies, and involves stakeholders in developing tailored climate adaptation solutions.
One case study within FAIR2Adapt is the Hamburg Risk Map for pluvial floods. The map combines spatial data on local vulnerabilities and exposure to heavy rainfall to assess and visualize flood risk at high resolution. By applying FAIR principles - fair, accessible, interoperable, and reusable data - the project provides a transferable methodology for other European cities to develop their own climate adaptation tools. Integrating FAIR data into urban risk mapping plays a key role in enabling evidence-based planning and resilience building while fostering cross-city learning in response to increasing extreme weather events.
The project is coordinated by the Simula Research Laboratory (SRL), Norway.
