Congratulations to Lea Schröder for her successful disputation on 25th of March!
Lea Schröder works in the group Sustainability and Global Change (FNU) on land use topics. Her dissertation “Sustainable agricultural adaptation under climate change: Insights from Northeast India and the Brazilian Amazon” was jointly supervised by Prof. Uwe Schneider and Prof. Jürgen Scheffran.
In her research, Lea has focused on the upland shifting cultivation system in Northeast India, where she assessed the effects of climate change on soil erosion. She also analyzed the factors that influence the use of soil and water conservation practices, based on a survey conducted with tribal farming communities in the study region. Lea's second study region was the Brazilian Amazon, where she conducted interviews with cattle ranchers and soybean farmers to understand local intensification processes, such as pasture-to-cropland conversions. Through her research, she has identified important factors that motivate and constrain agricultural adaptation in these regions.
Lea will continue as a postdoctoral researcher in the CLICCS-C2 project.
