The Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) convened from the 28th to the 30th of July in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. AAEA is a not-for-profit association serving the professional interests of members working in agricultural and broadly related fields of applied economics. During the Annual Meeting 2024, about 1,400 participants engage in discussions and share their research in a broad range of topics including commercial agriculture, natural resource and environmental economics, and economic and rural development.
Within the framework of the Executive Board Meeting, Luisa Gensch presented a poster on the second chapter of her dissertation entitled “Reconciling Objectives: Optimizing Land Use for Organic Farming and Protected Area Expansion as Part of the European Green Deal”. Her conference contribution addresses the issue of optimal land allocation in Europe with a view to promoting sustainable land use. It seeks to reconcile two apparently conflicting targets: the need for increased nature conservation and the objective of organic agriculture.
Luisa Gensch is a member of the Research Group Sustainability and Global Change. She will stay in New Orleans for about a week before starting her research stay with Professor Arika Ligmann-Zielinska in Michigan, USA.
