FNK PhD Student Emily Quiroga-Goméz and Postdoc Benjamin Blanz just presented their recent papers at the Marine Socio-Ecological Systems symposium (MSEAS). In their publications, the authors presented the latest findings of their research to the audience. Emily Quiroga-Goméz presented the joint paper of her and Benjamin Blanz entitled "More than the sum of its parts: Assessing the vulnerability of an interlinked marine socio-ecological system". Beyond that, Benjamin Blanz provided insights of “Adding the risk of stock collapse over time to stock assessments and harvest allocation decisions”.
MSEAS was held from 3rd to 7th of June 2024 in Yokohama, Japan. The symposium's objective is to facilitate an integrated assessment of multiple ocean uses across sectors, including fisheries, renewable energy, coastal development, oil and gas, transport, and the need for conservation. Therefore, the symposium focused on the methodological and empirical challenges involved in including the human dimensions in integrated ecosystem assessments.
