Malina Freitag graduated from high school in July 2024. Now her goal is to work in research with a focus on the sea and/or climate. To achieve this, she wants to learn about the processes at a climate research unit. She found out about the FNK through an internet search. The research unit was at the top of her list. Malina Freitag spent two weeks on a voluntary internship at the FNK, where she was supervised by Prof. Dr. Uwe Schneider.
During the internship, she gained insight into FNK's research projects, attended meetings and read research papers. Malina Freitag was particularly enthusiastic about the opportunity to talk to the researchers. With curiosity, she asked the doctoral students what problems they encountered in their research and what went well. Talking to them about starting their careers also inspired her. One thing she will keep in mind is Aiswarya Thazhissery-Pavanan's project on the link between rising temperatures and PISA results.
Malina Freitag will take home with her the passion and commitment with which the scientific staff pursue their research. This makes her want to do some research herself and dive into the world of research. She is very grateful for the time the researchers spent with her. In August 2024, she will start a Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) at a Wadden Sea Centre in Denmark. After that, she wants to study biology from the winter of 2026.
Our best wishes to her for her plans!
