MYRIAD-EU
Multi-hazard and sYstemic framework for enhancing Risk-Informed mAnagement and Decision-making in the E.U. (MYRIAD-EU)
Project description
A multidisciplinary consortium of leading European universities, research institutes, companies, NGOs, and practitioners in the field of disaster risk reduction is working together in this EU-funded project to improve our understanding, assessment, and management of disasters caused by combinations of different kinds of natural hazards (e.g. climate, hydrological, geological, and biological hazards).
The project aims to develop a framework, and concrete tools and recommendations, that are of relevance to a broad range of potential users within Europe and beyond for reducing the risks associated with multi-hazards in six key interconnected sectors in the E.U.: infrastructure & transport, food & agriculture, ecosystems & forestry, energy, finance, and tourism.
MYRIAD-EU’s vision is to catalyze a paradigm shift in risk science by co-developing the first harmonized framework for multi-hazard, multi-sector, systemic risk management. The framework will be co-developed with key stakeholders and tested in five real-world pilots across Europe. Each pilot examines multi-hazard risk challenges and solutions within the pilot region, as well as the wider impacts that this risk can cause throughout Europe.
